On the final day of trading, the San Diego Padres acquired All-Star closer Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
Leaders of the Central Division, the Brewers got rid of one of the best relievers in the Majors in exchange for:
- Taylor Rogers
- Dinelson Lamet
- Esteury Ruiz
- Robert Gasser (prospect)
“The players we receive in this deal help ensure the future of the Milwaukee Brewers remains bright,” said David Stearns, president of baseball operations for the team.

Josh Hader, the NL Reliever of the Year in three of the past four seasons and current saves leader (29), has a 4.24 ERA after going through one of his worst slumps before the All-Star break.
San Diego also finalized a five-year, $100 million deal with right-hander Joe Musgrove that will take effect starting next year.
Musgrove, 29, is 8-4 with a 2.65 ERA in 18 starts.
