Lara Arruabarrena announces her retirement from tennis at the age of 30

“Thank you tennis. A very important stage for me is closing. What my life has been, my day to day since I can remember. Thanks to this sport that has given me so much, experiences, people, friendships”, explained Arruabarrena in a statement posted on social media.

Lara Arruabarrena played a total of 24 ‘Grand Slams’ in her 15 years as a professional. Between them she achieved 350 official victories. However, in the last stretch of her career, the tennis player has not played a match since January.

In 2018, she remained in the ‘Top 100’ for the seventh consecutive season, finishing in 82nd place. In addition, she finished runner-up in Bogotá. Subsequently, the tennis player was losing positions in the WTA ranking.

“Thanks to all of you who have been part of it in one way or another. Thanks to the sponsors who at some point in my career bet on me,” he said.
