On the afternoon of this Wednesday, August 24, the MLB Commissioner’s Office announced through its official media the suspension of six players who participate in the Minor League system of professional baseball, specifically in the Dominican Summer League (DSL ).
According to the official Twitter account of Minor League Baseballthe six players were suspended for 60 games without receiving salary, due to non-compliance with the Minor League Drug Treatment and Prevention Program, related to different substances.

In the case of pitchers Richard Cardoza (Venezuela, New York Mets), Jeremy Castro (Dominican, Kansas City Royals), Miguel González (Venezuela, Arizona Diamondbacks) and José Serrano (Dominican, Houston Astros), in addition to infielder Christian Suarez ( Dominican, Atlanta Braves), tested positive for Stanozolol, a substance that improves the performance of athletes, according to MLB. Meanwhile, fellow pitcher Ricardo Estrada (Mexico, San Francisco Giants), tested positive for Drostanolone, with a similar effect.
In summary, three Dominicans, two Venezuelans and one Mexican are part of this group of players who were sanctioned today and will not be able to continue playing the DSL 2022 and much of the following season in the Minors.
