Novi Ligure at the Senior European Badminton Championships

Twenty participants for Italy in the next Senior European Badminton Championships including two members of Boccardo Badminton Novi, Roberto Lucio Scarabello and Teodor Stan, under the guidance of the federal coach, Alessandro Redaelli from Lecco. The event that brings together 1061 athletes from 33 nations will take place in Ljubljana, from 7 to 13 August, in the splendid setting of the Stozice Center Hall of the Slovenian capital. Scarabello, who participates in the continental competition for the sixth time, will face the English Kenroy Harrison known at the 2013 World Cup in Ankara in the Singles 60, coming from the county of Wark, near Birmingham, home of the most important professional tournament in the world. In the doubles, flanked by Antonio De Pasquale from Alba, he will face an Austro-Swedish couple made up of Thomas Aigner and Tommy Petterson from Salzburg. After the 2021 Spanish World Cup, Teodor Stan tries his hand at a European for the first time and the one he will meet will be a high-ranking opponent. Zoran Stepanovic was 3 times Yugoslavian doubles champion before 2002, the year of separation with Montenegro. And afterwards he went on to be the point man of the Serbian master movement. In the DM50 he will play with Konrad Hofer from South Tyrol, these changes of partner compared to the usual club one is due to the fact that in these events the age range varies every 5 years and therefore it becomes important to remain in the most favorable one when playing doubles. Unfortunately the draw did not favor the Italian duo reserving them 2 Danes, Christian Fischer and Thomas Laursen, I remember that the homeland of the poet Andersen is also that of the best badminton of the Old Continent having for decades their representatives in the top ten of the world ranking. However it will turn out, it will always be exciting for the two novices to wear the colors of the Azzurri team.
