The Paduan and Venetian baseball world will greet the entrepreneur and patron of sports Mariano Bellamio class of 1934. Born in Grisignano di Zocco, he worked his way up the ranks at a very young age in a “workshop” in Padua which he reached in the early days by bicycle. Over the years the satisfactions have arrived: together with his wife Paola Fincato he raised his two daughters Sabrina and Katia then the successes in the company arrived: first in the house where he lived for over half a century in via del Bigolo with the laboratory on the ground floor, then in the Limena artisan shed.
The second family, much larger, Mariano Bellamio owes it to Gianni Boldrin, historic player and coach of the team who, even when the field in via del Plebiscito was only a project, managed to convince Mariano to buy the yellow and green uniforms for the team for about thirty years: the Padova Baseball Softball Club is in fact called Bellamio from 1979 to 2007. A very long period that led the team in the 80s to find a home in the plant, the result of the stubbornness of the then councilor for sport Renzo Pittarello and which has seen American and Caribbean players and coaches, called by Mariano and his team of fans to technically raise hundreds of boys and girls to the basic ball game, as it was called in the pioneering years.
