Three Belgian teams have come to the Czech Republic for the Sazka Tour. Sport Vlaanderen and Bingoal Pauwels Sauzen sent two riders with Rune Herregodts and Johan Meens respectively in a flight of 5.
The stage to Prostejov seemed made for the sprinters, but they miscalculated and in the end the escapees had 22 seconds left.
Herregodts had slightly more surplus at the end than Meens and thus repeats his number from the Ruta del Sol, earlier this year. Even then he was allowed to put on the leader’s jersey after winning the opening stage.
It may be a short adventure for Herregodt, because tomorrow we will head into the mountains, with the final climb to Pustevny (7.9 km and 6.6% average).
