Qualified the day before for the final on time having swum alone, after a problem with the plot at the start, Ndoye Brouard beat the Hungarian Benedek Kovacs (1 min 56 s 03) and the Briton Luke Greenbank (1 min 56 s 15).

The second Frenchman entered in this final, Mewen Tomac, had to settle for 7e place after an excellent first half of the race and a last length where he was overtaken by several rivals.
