The Pharaohs of Evry-Courcouronnes want to take advantage of the organization of the Women’s European Cup Winners Cup to introduce softball to the general public.

The Pharaons Field of Evry-Courcouronnes (behind the Robert-Bobin stadium), whose 150-seat stand has just been delivered, will experience its international baptism of fire this Monday on the occasion of the first day of the Women’s European Softball Cup Winners Cup. This competition, in which the winning clubs of the national cups (the Challenge de France for French clubs) or national vice-champions participate, will bring together seven teams throughout this week. ” There is something special this year. The competition was divided into two groups to avoid the organizers having to manage fifteen teams. We welcome group B which is made up of the nations that finished between 8th and 15th place last year

“, explains Aurélie Bacelon, the president of the club.
The podium in the viewfinder
Eleventh in 2019 and 2021 during their first two participations, the Pharaohs hope this time to get on the podium. They have the means given their results this season. Finalists in the Challenge de France in early June against Grenoble, the Essonniennes, who finished first in the regular season of the Division 1 championship (12v, 2d), qualified for the semi-finals (September 17-18) where they will find Grenoble. But before taking their revenge on the Iséroises, they hope to win a first European medal. However, physical freshness will be decisive. However, several players from Evry-Courcouronnes have chained international competitions with the French softball and baseball teams for a month and a half (see box below). This European Cup will also be an opportunity for the general public to discover a discipline that is sometimes little known and which has been anchored for many years in Evry-Courcouronnes. “ Even if the month of August is not the best time, we hope to have as many people as possible during the six days of competition, especially since entry is free. The matches will follow each other every day from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. (note: those of the Pharaohs are scheduled at 8 p.m.). Classification matches and the final (20h) will take place on Saturday August 20. Many activities are planned, including initiations to batting for adults and children “says Aurélie Bacelon, who is delighted to host such a competition:”We will leave a lot of energy there but we will recover some benefits. Some facilities will remain, such as the stand or the batting cages. We also took the opportunity to renovate the clubhouse
