Back to normal? Will Smith was spotted on a sushi date with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, the first public outing from the Oscars.

The 53-year-old Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum was seen wearing a navy golf shirt with a matching baseball cap and pants as he left Nobu in Malibu, California. The Red Table Talk host, 50, was right behind her Smith, holding a hand on her husband’s back as she followed him to the car. She wore a black suit with a red flannel shirt tied around her waist. Pinkett Smith completed the look with sunglasses and hoop earrings.

Smith hasn’t done many public initiatives since his March showdown with Chris Rock. During the ceremony, the 57-year-old comedian joked that Pinkett Smith – who married the Men In Black star in 1997 – was due to star in a GI Jane sequel due to her shaved head. (The Maryland native was candid about her struggles with alopecia and hair loss.) Smith marched onto the stage and hit Rock, 57, in the face.

“Will Smith just slapped me,” the South Carolina native said in censored footage that later circulated online. When Smith returned to his seat, Rock was heard yelling, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”

Moments later, the Philadelphia native won the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard.

The concussion actor later apologized for his “unacceptable and unforgivable” actions, writing via Instagram in March: “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness ”.

He continued: “I would also like to apologize to The Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone who watches around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family. I am deeply sorry that my behavior has tainted what has been an otherwise wonderful journey for all of us ”.

At the time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stipulated that Smith, who had resigned from the organization, would be banned from all Oscar events for 10 years.

In April, Smith was photographed in public for the first time from the slap and was taking selfies with fans during a trip to Mumbai, India, during a vacation he and his wife had planned long before the awards ceremony.

Meanwhile, Pinkett Smith has addressed the controversy over her Facebook Watch Red Table Talk series. “Now regarding the night of the Oscars, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent and capable men will have the opportunity to heal, talk about it and reconcile,” the Matrix Reloaded star shared in a June episode, adding: “Lo state of the world today, we need both. And in reality we all need each other more than ever ”.

The Wicked Wisdom front woman noted that she will continue to support her husband. “Until then, Will and I continue to do what we have been doing for the past 28 years, and that’s continuing to understand this thing called life together,” added Pinkett Smith at the time. “Thanks for your attention.”

At the end of July, the Ali actor once again faced the slap he felt around the world. “I’ve spent the past three months reproducing and understanding the nuances and intricacies of what happened in that moment,” he explained in a July 29 Instagram upload. “I will not try to undo all of this right now. But I can tell you all, there is no part of me that thinks it was the right way to behave at the time. There is no part of me that thinks it is the optimal way to manage a feeling of disrespect or insults ”.

Smith noted that Rock refused requests to speak with him. The Oscar winner also made it clear that his wife didn’t influence his decision to slap the comedian. “I made a choice myself based on my experiences, my history with Chris. Jada has nothing to do with that, ”he continued.

A source told Us Weekly exclusively that the Gotham star has urged her husband to deal with the conflict again.

“Jada also prompted Will to apologize for becoming this really dark cloud on his Red Table Talk series,” the insider shared with Us, noting that Smith “never wanted” to apologize publicly but there was a constant wait for “Any mention of that moment”.
