Young people who have emerged as the promises of Guatemalan sports in 2022

In recent years, new talents have emerged in the Guatemalan sport That outline to represent the country in major competitions for years to come. Here is a list of the youths athletes who are currently considered to be promises in each of its sports disciplines in this 2022.

  • matthew larena (18 years): has participated in the 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as setting two Guinness World Records. He currently races for the official Lamborghini team in the Italian Endurance Championship.

  • Ian Rodriguez (22 years old): He has won races in Formula 4 and Formula 3. He currently competes in the Le Mans Cup and is looking to make the jump to the ELMS Championship, looking to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

  • Sergio Chumil (21 years old): This cyclist from Chimaltenango is competing in Spain with the Aluminum Cortizo team, looking to make the professional leap.

  • Natalia Larranaga (19 years old): star of the U-16 Central American Tournament in 2018 and currently plays in the United States, with the Florida National University team.

Baseball

  • Sebastian Barrios (17 years old): He is a pitcher who officially signed with the Seattle Mariners, seeking to become the first Guatemalan in the MLB.

  • Daniella Gonzalez: (14 years old): This rhythmic gymnastics athlete has a great future in the sport and she showed it in the last Junior Pan American Championship, with an 8th place.

  • Sheily López (19 years old): she is a judoka originally from Jalapa who has won several medals in Pan American Cups and the most recent was at the first Junior Pan American Games.

swimming

  • Lucero Mejia (14 years old): At her young age, she has already established herself as the best junior in Central America and the Caribbean, in addition to having most of the national records in her category.
