1st day of competition in Antalya

At the end of the first day of competition for the compound bows, Jean-Philippe Boulch put in a good performance by ranking 4th in the qualifications, while the margin of progress for the other tricolor archers is a little wider, especially in view of the team matches tomorrow. Everything is still to be done on this first stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup, which takes place all week in Antalya (Turkey) and brings together 340 athletes from the world’s elite.

This Tuesday therefore marked the start of the competition after Monday’s official training which allowed the archers to take their marks, on this ground that our Blues are starting to know well, land of great performances and tricolor medals. Today, therefore, was devoted to the qualification shots of the compound bows for men and women. At the end of 72 arrows, Jean-Philippe Boulch (Rueil Malmaison) signs a nice score of 702 points, ranking him 4th in his category and among the 8 archers who have reached 700 points. In 13th position, Quentin Baraer (Rennes) achieves 697 points whileAdrian Gontier (Ruelle sur Touvre) achieves 682 points, having a little more trouble finding the 10th. The men’s team thus accumulates 2081 points and ranks 7th, while Turkey, at home, dominates the classification. The tricolors will face the Germans tomorrow morning (10th) in the 1/8th finals, after a first round in bye.

Among the women, while the Estonian Meeri-Marita Paas is the only one to reach 700 points, Sophie Dodemont (Fontenay s/s Bois) leads the French team with 680 points, below its capacity, and a 21st place. Lola Grandjean (Saint Avertin) is three points behind, in 26th place with a score of 677 and Sandra Herve (Draveil Sénart) ranks 35th with 670 points. The trio is therefore in 6th place in the team classification with 2027 points and will meet Kazakhstan, ranked 11th, tomorrow in the 1/8th finals.
