“A tired 80-year-old leader”: Noël Le Graët forced to resign after the new scandal at the FFF?

The World Cup is in ten weeks. And we cannot say that the players of the France team are going through a period of tranquility. Between the PSG transport controversy with Kylian Mbappé, the extortion affair of Paul Pogba or even the alleged maraboutage of La Pioche towards the Bondy rocket, the last few weeks have been very hectic.

And obviously, it is not about to end! This time, it is Noël le Graët who is in the sights. The current president of the French Football Federation (FFF) is particularly scratched in a survey signed SoFoot. Testimonials in support, some employees accuse him in particular of sexual assault. “It’s very simple, he jumps on anything that moves” , explains in particular one of them in the six-page paper. SoFoot also revealed sexist text messages sent by the president of the FFF to three different women. “Come dine at my house tonight”, “I prefer blondes, so if that tells you…” et “You are awfully curvy, I would put you in my bed.”

Under mandate until 2024, Noël Le Graët is also attacked on other dysfunctions within the body. “Since the victory at the 2018 World Cup, we can say that football has taken a back seat at the federation. Instead, we have internal wars between bosses who pollute everything, directors who think of fucking everyone. world, but not many files treated seriously.”

A meeting with the Minister of Sports

Sold on September 8 on newsstands, the SoFoot issue was a real hit. Since the publication, the scandal has even taken the turn of a state affair. RMC Sport announces this Tuesday that Amélie Oudéa-Castera, the Minister of Sports, even contacted Noël Le Graët in person in order to have his version of the facts and obtain some clarifications on the revelation of sexist SMS.

An official meeting between the Minister and the President has been agreed for this Friday to extend the interview. The director general of the FFF, Florence Hardouin, will also be present. Officially, this meeting aims to discuss the World Cup in Qatar and the problem of supporters in the stadiums. But no one is fooled and the hot topic of the investigation will obviously be discussed at length.

An inevitable departure?

Under mandate for another two years, Noël Le Graët is on an ejection seat. According to RMC, it is especially estimated that the leader is less and less competent internally. “We had a man in front of us, a tired 80-year-old leader”, says one of the members. Others feel that the survey is not “only warmed up” and everyone already knew that.

Last Saturday, Noël Le Graët gave a speech in Caen for the ANPDF congress. On this occasion, he would not have denied that shortening his tenure at the FFF was a real possibility. nicknamed the “Breton Napoleon”he could resign on January 7 just after the World Cupnde. “If France wins the World Cup everyone will be happy. If it loses, it will be the complete opposite. Whatever the outcome, it can upset the future of the presidency of the FFF”he explained in particular according to our colleagues.

Can a victory in Qatar save its head? This seems to be the only solution so that the situation with the Blues does not become unbearable. “If it smiles on Qatar, he will complete his mandate, if not, he will be weakened”, explain some members of his entourage. Will leave? Won’t leave? Within the FFF, the two bells ring out. “For me, he plays, he enjoys the situation, he throws a coin in the air and it works, people talk about it”, provides another source of RMC. The bets are therefore open.
