25 years ago the first edition of the 15k Salto Clásica was held through the streets of Donostia and on October 16 it will once again be a fixed race for popular runners
In a month, a classic from the popular races calendar will hit the streets of Donostia. So much so that this year it celebrates its silver anniversary, which is said soon. 25 years of history of the Classic Salto 15K, a test that is still attractive in itself and that, moreover, is perfect both for preparing for the Behobia and the San Sebastian marathon.
It will be on Sunday October 16. And if it weren’t for the obligatory break in 2020 due to Covid, the 26th edition of the 15K Salto Clásica would take place in five weeks. However, next month will be the 25th edition coinciding with the celebration of their silver anniversary. Organized by Donosti Eventos, RPM Sports and the Guipuzcoan Athletic Federation, the Clásica has already become an event that is more about running. It is a sustainable, inclusive and supportive event.
On October 16 there will be two distances through the streets of San Sebastián: the 15K and the 5K, a distance more suitable for those who are just starting out in the world of running or who want to run at high speed. Precisely with this short distance the day will start (at 9.45 am). Fifteen minutes later, at 10 am, the starting gun will be fired at 15 kilometers for rollers. At 10.10, time for athletes with reduced mobility. And at 10.15, the 15K that has been running since 1997.
The start will be located on Madrid Avenue, a few meters from the Reale Arena, while the finish line will be at the Anoeta Mini-stadium (in both distances). The 15K circuit, completely flat and closed to traffic, will run through the center of San Sebastián and the neighborhoods of Gros, Antiguo and Amara. As in the last edition, the route grows through the Gros neighborhood and is shortened by Tolosa Avenue, a historical demand of Gipuzkoan athletes who claimed not to have to go to Hell. There will be two liquid refreshment points in the race and one liquid and solid one at the finish line.
Registrations must be made before October 13 on the official website of the event: www.15ksansebastian.com. The price until next Wednesday is 29 euros for the three modalities of the 15K, including the shirt and other services. From Thursday 22 the price will be 34 euros, and in the last section, from October 10 to 13, the price will be 40 euros. The price of registration in the 5K is 12 euros (includes a contribution euro for the solidarity number); It will last until October 13. Salto Systems continues to be the main sponsor of this race, which hopes to reach 3,000 entrants, with at least 25% women.
