ATP > Thiem: “Sinner and Alcaraz are changing the game”

Interviewed by our colleagues fromEurosport on the sidelines of the Moselle Open on which he lost in the round of 16 against defending champion Huber Hurkacz, Dominic Thiem was asked about his feelings once Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have hung up. And if the Austrian recognizes that it will be easier to get closer to a Grand Slam title, he does not however forget the hungry youth.

“Now the bar will be very high again. We saw Alcaraz but also Sinner at the US Open, these guys are changing the game in their own way, in terms of speed and aggression. From one end of the match to the other, whatever the score and even on very important points, they are fully committed, they take enormous risks and I find that we had never really seen that the past. Even Roger, Rafa and Novak are playing a bit safer. Of course, they are also very aggressive players but let’s say that at certain times, they are also more defensive, they run everywhere from their base line without making any mistakes until they wring the opponent. Which is amazing too. But it’s different. Alcaraz is yet another tennis. »
