Baseball: Shohei Ohtani wins his 12th victory after an outing cut short by a blister.

Shohei Ohtani threw five effective innings to extend his career win total to 12. The Los Angeles Angels beat the Houston Astros 6-1 on Saturday.

Ohtani (12-8) was called out with a blister in his hand after allowing one run and six hits on his 79-pitch outing at Minute Maid Park. The double star stayed to strike and finished 0 for 4.

Ohtani knocked seven times and walked twice. Mike Trout scored for a franchise-record sixth straight game, extending the Angels’ lead to 5-1 in the second inning with a three-shot left shot.

Astros starter Jose Urquidy (13-6) gave up six runs in five innings of work.

In other major leagues, Texas Rangers pitcher Kohei Arihara (1-3) was battered 11-on-12 in three-plus innings in the team’s 11-7 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Seiya Suzuki failed to strike in four shots in the Chicago Cubs’ 5-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
