Basketball/Regional Championships. First derby of the season

The first day of the regional championships was not very beneficial to the teams in the Colmar sector. Far from it. Of the five teams involved, only the women of Horbourg-Wihr, in the Pre-National, won, and moreover outside.

The success of President Jaeglé’s players on the field of SIG III is a first echo of the ambitions displayed by the staff (read our edition of September 23). Who intends to continue with a second success on Sunday (4:30 p.m.) at the Kastler hall with the reception of the Alliance Sport Alsace II. The return of Catherine Niemczura already seems to be bearing fruit. With Floriane Roeder, Marie Dommain and Laurence Haller, a decisive quartet seems to stand out in this formation.

The day before, this Saturday 1is October, it is a derby in the Men’s Prenational which will be on display at the Tuilerie in Eguisheim (8:30 p.m.), which hosts the Kaysersberg reserve. A little early in the season, while the two teams are still breaking in.

Eguisheim did not go the distance in Holtzheim despite an encouraging score (-5) at rest. Undoubtedly tense by the challenge, and not completely (the pivot Vivien Basuyau is still injured), Yannick Schueller, not completely recovered from his injury, and his teammates did not give the full measure of their means.

About the KABCA II, we know a little more. It is finally Ljubomir Avramovic who coaches a workforce in which the presence of Maël Bourblanc (18 points), Elliot Schotter (18), Bojan Petrovic (17) and Farid Zaïd El Khil (10) was not enough to counter the Nord Sundgau by Lionel Usché and Quentin Gutleben, still in good shape at 32. Noah Biskupski (injured so far) will bring speed to the visitors for his debut.

Dessenheim wants to redeem himself

In Regional 2, the women of Eguisheim had a more than difficult start in Obernai. As soon as the rest (54-14), the mass was said. The second act was the same barrel, the formation of Michel Lemperor bowing 94-32. The catch-up session this Saturday (6:30 p.m.) as a curtain raiser for the boys, facing Duttlenheim, risks being cut short.

Down two divisions (from N3 to R2), ASL Dessenheim missed its start in the great widths, victim of Erstein who knew how to take advantage of the great defensive passivity of the Hardtois, their inefficiency and their numerous losses of ball. But also a victim of young Adam Zaegel (18), insolent at three points. The absence of the three elders, Frédéric Sauter, Clément Lenhardt and Patrick Fest, undoubtedly also weighed in the balance.

Dessenheim will have to continue without Joan Kloepfer, one of their major players, who broke his cruciate ligaments. Faced with the SIG II, one of the favourites, the takeover is still hoped for this Saturday (8 p.m.).
