Expo for Sport 2022: big party in the center of Milan and in the suburbs
Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September 10,000mq of sports area and 35 disciplines
Rome, 31 Aug. – The eighth edition of Expo per lo Sport, an event dedicated to the promotion of youth sport, in collaboration with Autogrill and the Humanitas Research Foundation, will be a great celebration for the city of Milan. Not only for the center, but it will also approach the suburbs, to give everyone the opportunity to practice sports and promote a healthy lifestyle, in the name of relaunching sporting values, inclusion, sociality and sustainability, as well as that of outdoor motor activity. Registrations for the Summer Schools, which will be activated from Monday 5 to Friday 9 September in four different locations in Milan (Arena Civica in Parco Sempione, Bicocca Stadium, Centro Sportivo Olmi and Centro Sportivo Giuriati) closed with a full house. : in fact, the quota of 500 adhesions has been reached. It is still possible, however, through the website www.expoperlosport.it, to book for the Fuori Expo sports activities as per the program on the site and dedicated to young people and adults. Registration is also open for access to the 10,000 m2 maxi-sports area of Parco Sempione on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September. Also this year the sports village will allow children aged 5 to 14 to practice 35 different disciplines whose approach will be supervised by federal instructors and specialized technicians.
FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation – Milan Provincial Committee) will organize motor courses and speed tests open to all; the Italian Cycling Federation of Lombardy will be present with Paralympic cycling and youth cycling activities; the Italian Badminton Federation with airbadminton tests and shuttlecock dribbles; the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation – Lombardy Regional Committee with numerous performances of Baseball Five, Blind Baseball, batting tunnel and catches. The CSI (Italian Sports Center) will promote sport and its educational values; the FIB (Italian Bocce Federation) will invite to the Petanque test; the PGS (Salesian Youth Sports Clubs) will dedicate itself to the promotion of volleyball and minivolley; the Italian Naval League, with concepts and approaches to sailing for children and teenagers; the UISP Territorial Committee of Milan, with an area dedicated to 5-a-side and 7-a-side football. SSD Leone XIII will have an area dedicated to rugby; Jolly Sport ASD with martial arts (judo, karate and thai box); MAGA ASD, with artistic roller skating; Kids United ASD with football; the Polisportiva Lombardia Uno with 2v2 mini football tournaments; GAEA Football ASD with women’s football in English; Seamen Milano with tackle football and flag football; Saronno table tennis with performances by athletes and lessons on basic techniques; National Target Shooting – Milan Section with introductory target shooting activities for children; the Lu.Co Team with boxing; ASD Tchoukball Italia with promotional activities; the CUS Milano with rowing tests on a rowing machine and regattas on a virtual field; the ASD CTKF with kickboxing techniques; the ASD Primagym with performances of rhythmic gymnastics and dance.
Fencing and basketball will offer activities directly linked to events scheduled in Milan. The FIS (Italian Fencing Federation) will present to the Milanese public the Senior Fencing World Championships which will be held in Milan in July 2023: there will be three platforms on which children can try out the
different disciplines and one for adults where national athletes will perform (among these, the European champion and world champion in team swordplay Federico Vismara and the Olympic bronze medal in women’s team sword Federica Isola). The FIP (Italian Basketball Federation), in the days in which Milan will host a group of the European Championship, will promote a whole series of Minibasket and 3 × 3 basketball activities, involving different companies in the area and giving the opportunity to all boys and girls who will participate in the event to try to dribble and shoot for the basket. The FIP has fully embraced the message launched by Expo for Sport: basketball is the cosmopolitan sport par excellence, the one that best interprets the values of inclusion. The FIP also collaborates in the realization of the San Carlo 3 × 3 by Statale, a street basketball tournament (one for men and one for women) open to adults aged 18 to 50 which is part of the Fuori Expo schedule, a calendar of events, cultural moments and experiential sports themed (such as conferences and interactive stations where you can try different sports) that will further enrich Expo per lo Sport.
Several initiatives promoted by the partner companies of Expo per lo Sport. Kellogg Italia will propose mini-basketball games and free throws; in the Zurich area you can put yourself to the test with BMX; San Carlo will provide a climbing wall and give the opportunity to play table tennis or table football; Finally, Nickelodeon will have a play area where children can learn how to protect the environment in the company of the most famous cartoons. All the activities of Expo per lo Sport will be plastic free, with the possibility of stocking up on water through the famous Milanese “vedovelle” thanks to the precious support of MM Spa.
The program of Expo for Sport also includes a calendar of conferences organized by the Universities of Milan that are partners of the event. Monday 5, from 17.30 to 19, at the State University, the conference “Health and physical exercise: new perspectives for young and old” will take place, which will also include prof. Antonio La Torre, FIDAL technical director. Tuesday 6, from 5 to 7 pm, will be the turn of “Lying on top of the world, high altitude experiences”, scheduled at the Milano-Bicocca University in the presence, among others, of the mountaineer Francesco Cassardo. Thursday 8 from 17 to 20, at the Catholic University, will be the turn of “Communicating sport between news, events and narration”, which will also be attended by the well-known commentator of Sky Sports Maurizio Compagnoni. Saturday 10, at the Appiani Room, the program will be completed by the inter-university conference “Sport, inclusion and disability: a wealth to discover”, with the participation of, among others, the Paralympic swimmer Alessia Berra.
On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September, in Parco Sempione, the prevention village will be set up to support fundraising, together with Autogrill, in favor of AYA (Adolescents and Young Adults), a clinical, psychosocial and active research path in the IRCCS Humanitas Clinical Institute for cancer patients aged 16 to 39. In the prevention village, workshops and interactive activities for adults and children and “prevention pills” will be organized by physiotherapists, nutritionists and learning neuropsychologists of Humanitas Medical Care and Humanitas Psico Medical Care who will guide the participants to discover a style of life and proper nutrition, not forgetting the
psychological well-being. On the morning of Sunday 11, in Palazzina Appiani, parents will be invited free of charge to participate in two workshops with the pediatricians of the Humanitas San Pio X hospital. From 10 to 11 “Disobstruction maneuvers in children”, by dr. Fabrizio Ciralli, head of Neonatology and Pediatrics Humanitas San Pio X and the trainers of Salvagente Italia; from 11.15 to 12, instead, “Sports in children: a guide to use for parents”, with dr. In support of Charity activities, initiatives will be proposed in collaboration with the youth sectors of Milan and Inter. Among these: joint training sessions and football tournaments for men and women Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 categories.
