VAR doesn’t show where Antonio Candreva is when he intervenes Juventus in the match against Salernitana. Coach Massimiliano Allegri took issue with it.

Juventus vs Salernitana took place at the Allianz Stadium in the Italian League continued, Monday (12/9/2022) early morning WIB. Both teams finished the match with a score of 2-2.

Salernitana scored twice in the first half through Antonio Candreva and Krzysztof Piatek’s penalty. Juventus could only equalize the score in the second half through Gleison Bremer in the 51st minute and Leonardo Bonucci in injury time.

Juventus had made the third goal through Arkadiusz Milik shortly after Bonucci scored. VAR then intervened and referee Matteo Marcenaro looked at the monitor to disallow Milik’s goal for Bonucci’s movement in an offside position despite not hitting the ball.

Allegri as coach Juventus at the end of the game questioned the display of the VAR image which made Marcenaro to change his decision. The Juventus coach alluded to Candreva’s invisible position in VAR.

“I didn’t speak to the referee after the game, a goal was disallowed and that’s a fact,” Allegri told DAZN.

“The only thing is I want to watch the video again. Antonio Candreva is almost near the corner and we haven’t seen the video, what if it puts someone onside? We don’t have the video, nobody has it so I don’t have it. know.”

“However, the referee must be left alone, the protagonists are the players. We have 10-15 good referees in Italy,” Allegri insisted.

If you refer to the VAR screen display which only leads to the penalty box. The referee has the right to have an interpretation regarding Bonucci’s position even if his movement does not hit the ball.

In the Laws of the Game made by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) regarding the offside rule, the referee makes the right decision. Bonucci made a very clear move to head the ball and it was ruled offside even though he wasn’t hit.
