Carlos Alcaraz emerge as champion US Open 2022 after defeating Casper Ruud. The 19-year-old tennis player also rose to number one in the world.

The 2022 US Open final between Alcaraz and Ruud is not just fighting for the title. This match also determines who will be ranked number one in the world.

Alcaraz defeated Ruud in a four-set battle in the 2022 US Open final. Competing at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York, Monday (12/9/2022) morning WIB, Alcaraz won 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3.

Alcaraz ended Ruud’s resistance in three hours and 20 minutes. He finished the tournament by spending a total of 23 hours and 40 minutes on the court after competing in five sets from the fourth round to the semifinals.

This is the first grand slam title for Alcaraz. The Spaniard also made history through his success at Flushing Meadows.

At the age of 19 years and 4 months, Alcaraz became the youngest tennis player to occupy the ATP rankings (since 1973). He surpassed Lleyton Hewitt’s 20-year-old record when he became number one in 2001.

Alcaraz also became the first teenager to top the ATP rankings. Alcaraz evicted Daniil Medvedev who was eliminated in the fourth round of the 2022 US Open.

Be the champion of the US Open 2022, Carlos Alcaraz following in the footsteps of Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz became the youngest ever grand slam champion after Nadal lifted the trophy at the French Open in 2005 at the same age.
