BBC Sports noted that Beckham, dressed in a black overcoat, a beret of the same color and incipient beard, joined the queue at two in the morning on Friday, like any citizen who wanted to pay tribute to the late queen.

“I thought that arriving at dawn would be a little calmer, I was wrong. We all want to be here together, we all want to experience something where we celebrate the incredible life of our Queen and I think something like this should be shared together”Said the former Manchester United player who played 115 games for the English team.

Beckham was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) from the Queen in 2003 for services to football and remembered them as follows “To receive my OBE, I brought my grandparents with me, who were the ones who really raised me to be a great royal and a fan of the Royal Family, and obviously I had my wife there as well.”

The former player joined the long line along the River Thames and revealed that he and those around him had fed themselves during that wait with chips, sweets, lemonade and coffee.
