Dimitri de Condé tracked by a Spanish club: “A great name and a great challenge”

Dimitri de Condé is one of the pillars of Genk, however, last year, the sirens from abroad were there.

Last season was not easy for Genk, so difficult that even manager Dimitri de Condé thought about looking for other positions abroad.

“Everyone knows I’m very comfortable here. Last year was tough for me from start to finish, I’m very honest about it. I’ve had discussions with the president. At a moment, a Spanish club called and that charmed me, but the desire to do better with Genk and to grow with this club dominated,” De Condé told Het Laatste Nieuws.

That Spanish club was Athletic Bilbao. De Condé confides that one of the candidates for the presidency of the club imagined himself surrounded by De Condé as technical director and Marclo Bielsa in T1. “A big name and a big challenge. I saw it mostly as a compliment.”
