Dragus puts an end to a festival of missed chances and offers three precious points to Standard against Ostend

After Salim Amallah, here is Denis Dragus to free the Standard! Another attacking strongman from Les Rouches this season, the Romanian delivered all of Sclessin by crucifying Ostend and Guillaume Hubert with a dry strike after the hour mark (1-0). A goal, the only one of the match against the Côtiers, which allows Standard to breathe, to investigate a 2nd consecutive victory and to confirm its slow rise in the standings.

But let’s admit that, for a long time, we thought that this match would end in 0-0 as the two teams, players and volunteers, engaged in a duel of missed opportunities for long minutes.

Posts touched, overused three-star opportunities, saves by the two goalkeepers, everything is there to prevent the two teams from scoring. We even wondered what twist of fate had prevented Hornby from Ostend from scoring just before half-time, his deflected free kick miraculously landing on the crossbar of Bodart’s goal.

We asked ourselves the same question a few minutes later when Amallahalone at the penalty spot on a good cross from Donnum, got his brushes tangled up, forgetting his main mission: to propel the ball deep.

It was therefore ultimately Dragus who took charge of putting an end to this clumsy ball by shooting a supersonic shot into the ceiling of the goal of Hubert.

In control of the match, suddenly more dashing with the ball at their feet, Standard then began to tremble again at the end of the match, suffering the full brunt of Ostend’s last stand. Fortunately, Arnaud Bodart, imperial this Saturday evening, watched over the grain to bring his stone to the building, ensure a precious clean sheet and grab three points which are good for morale.
