Forum runs from Monday to Tuesday
Technology will be one of the dominant themes of Football Talks, if the football of the future were not the theme of the reflection forum that the FPF promotes on September 5th and 6th. FIFA’s director of research and technology, Nicolas Evans, will be present at the City of Football congress in a panel that raises the question “How technology will improve the game” and which will be moderated by the deputy director of Record, Sérgio Krithinas. Evans leads the FIFA team dedicated to the innovation, implementation and certification of new technologies, such as VAR, GLT (goal-line technology), offside lines – including the semi-automated lines that will be tested at the Qatar World Cup. – and EPTS (Electronic Performance Tracking Systems, as are the belts that players use).
FPF coordinator and technology director Hugo Freitas and Sam Lloyd from Hudle (analysis and video) and Sean O’Connor from StatSports (GPS Tracker) will be speaking on the same panel.
How technology will change the experience of watching football is another of the debates to be highlighted in the Football Talks program which, at its start, will feature the participation of Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, owner of Paris SG
