From 10! Neuquén had a golden closure in the Games

With a great performance in badminton, artistic gymnastics and shooting, with several gold medals, Neuquén closed its performance at the 1st Patagonian Sports Games that closed this afternoon in Santa Rosa, La Pampa, venue of this event that brought together eight individual disciplines of the Olympic circuit and that aspire to remain in the regional calendar of competitions together with the Epade and Araucanía Games, also adding disabled athletes, this time in three disciplines.

In total, Neuquén added eight gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals to the general accumulated 10 gold, 16 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Within the extensive program of activities, the Neuquén delegation managed to stand out in Badminton, a discipline that always contributes to the medal table and this time could not be the exception.

In the facilities of the Manuel Belgrano School Agustín Luengo became champion in singles by defeating Agustín Silva de Santa Cruz 21-6 and 21-12 and the mixed couple made up of Valentín García and Zaida Garcés who defeated Río Negro ( Caio Coto and Lorena Sepúlveda) by 21-16, 17-21 and 21-17. And the same was achieved by the men’s double made up of Agustín Luengo and Valentín García who defeated Santa Cruz (Agustín Silva and Facundo Sánchez) 21-6 and 21-16.

Meanwhile, Zaida Garcés and Agustina Lezcano achieved silver in the ladies who lost the final with Río Negro (Josefina Gutiérrez and Lorena Sepúlveda) by 21-15 and 21-11 and the same Zaida who lost with Martina Arnold de Santa Cruz by 21-10 and 21-6. In addition to adapted, Eluney Altamirano won the bronze in single.

The other high point was at the Estudiantes club where artistic gymnastics competed. Joaquín Vélez managed to prevail in vault and on the ground, while Agustina Sorroche also shone in vault. While Felipe Bruno won silver in vault and Martina Stagnaro took bronze in beam.

Archery was another of the disciplines that shone in these games. At the Butaló Sports Center, Neuquén won gold for teams and, in addition, Pablo Fernández won the gold medal in the adapted category.

In combat sports there was also a podium at EPET No. 1 with the wrestling team that escorted Chubut. The taekwondo that competed in the Municipal Stadium managed to fight for the gold against Río Negro in the attractive TK3 modality in women, while in men it was fourth.

In table tennis that competed at the La Pampa Provincial School, the duo Yamila Fuentes and Diego Moreno achieved a bronze medal and Jael Jardinez did the same in functional adaptation.

Tennis was another of the disciplines that reached the final but fell to Río Negro 4-1 on the courts of the Estudiantes club. The victory came in men’s doubles with Bruno Largacha and Ignacio Piñeiro.

Other disciplines that added to the closing was the Olympic lifting that closed the activity at the Santa Rosa school with Marcos Anselmi in +81 Kg. who achieved silver and Benjamín Turner, bronze in up to 81 Kg.
