Judo; fifth place in the world masters for Giuliano Rossi

FORNACI – Two athletes from the Judfo Club Fornaci were present at the World Masters in Krakow. It went well for the Azzurro athlete of the Judo Club, Giuliano Rossi, who obtained a deserved 5th place, one step away, in the play-off for the third place, from the Bronze medal, improving Marrackech’s 7th place.

Giuliano also beat the famous Argentine athlete Alberto Renedo, then won on points with Hungarian Aladar Nagyer, only to lose to Frenchman Laurent Sikirji in the final for 3rd place.

Another multi-medalized athlete of the Judo Club Fornaci, Marco Gigli, was also expected at the World Championships, but at the end of this competition he decided to leave the competitive sector.

Unfortunately, the first meeting of Marco Gigli immediately sanctioned the elimination against a Belgian athlete of world value Steenackers Jean. The recovery phase followed and Marco fought by that great athlete who is winning clearly against the English athlete Brian Brown, to then meet the Spanish athlete Cesar Cantalapiedra, from whom he was defeated, stopping in 12th place.

It may have been the disappointment, but Marco’s first decision after the end of the race was unfortunately either to end a brilliant competitive career in Krakow. Beginning the practice of Judo at the age of 7, Marco under the guidance of Maestro Ivano Carlesi reached the competitive black belt at the age of 19 and then began a great career that saw her as the winner of the Italian Championships, Atleta Azzurro d’Italia (for having passed 10 National convocations) and the grand finale with the achievement of the first white and red belt 6th Dan.

Thus ends the adventure of the two Azzurri athletes of the Judo Club Fornaci whom the owner of the Judo Club Ivano Carlesi thanks for their will, passion and deserving of a big thank you.

The Board of Directors and all the athletes of the Judo Club Fornaci ASD will now celebrate them on their return.
