Maodo Lô is one of the discoveries of the EuroBasket at the DBB. As the guard now revealed, he plays with a wrist injury. In addition, the Alba Berlin guard continues to toy with the NBA.
“I got three cortisone shots in my wrist because I have insane pain in my wrist,” revealed the Alba guard on the “GotNexxt” podcast. The national player sustained the injury in the BBL finals against Bayern, but Lô was not examined more closely due to lack of time.
As a result, Lô completely distanced himself from basketball, which made preparation difficult for him. “I haven’t taken a litter all summer. I really need a longer break.” But that doesn’t exist at the European Championship, instead Lô bites his teeth with an inflamed wrist and was the decisive player in the overtime drama against Lithuania (109:107) with two three-pointers converted in the second overtime.
Lô had already made the headlines with a convincing performance against France. Captain Dennis Schröder then stated full-bodiedly that the 29-year-old would be the next German in the NBA. In 2016, the Berliner already had a foot in the door and played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the Summer League, but there was no contract at the time.
Maodo Lô confirms NBA interest
According to Lô, however, contact with the best league in the world has never been broken, and the four-time BBL champion can still imagine playing in the NBA again. “If the path leads there that would be great, if not that’s okay too. My goal is always to develop as a player and to add something to the game. That’s my ambition too.”
There have also been offers for Lô in recent years, although no team has offered a guaranteed contract, which would be a prerequisite for Lô to consider a possible change. “I never got a fully guaranteed offer. There were also negotiations last year after the Olympics, but there was no guaranteed offer. If it had come, I would have accepted it.”
