JUDOKAS TRAIN AT PANAM SPORTS CAMP FOR JUNIOR CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The nine-day training camp held in the Dominican Republic prepared the athletes for an upcoming event and their careers in general.

Young judo athletes from 30 countries in the Americas are now better prepared to face their competition in the future to come.

This is due to the fact that Panam Sports, the Pan American Judo Federation and the Dominican Republic Olympic Committee have organized a Training Camp for judoka in the youth category over the last nine days. The camp began on August 29 and concluded on September 6.

Led by top coaches Amadeu de Mora (BRA) and Amarilis Savon (CUB), the 60 athletes at the camp learned new techniques and tactics to help them win more competitions. The camp began with a competition event for each of the athletes and was immediately followed by the Junior Pan American Cup in the capital of Santo Domingo.

Continuing Panam Sports’ commitment to the health and safety of each athlete, medical evaluations were also conducted during the training camp.

Athletes from the following countries participated in it: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico , Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.

“We are sure that this camp will be of great benefit to the countries and athletes of our region,” said the Secretary General of Panam Sports, Ivar Sisniega.
