The NBA star insults the referee |
Doncic: “I f**k your mother!”
It wasn’t Luka Doncic’s European Championship (23).
The NBA star of the Dallas Mavericks traveled to the tournament in Germany with a clear goal: to defend the title with Slovenia.
The journey ended on Wednesday in the quarterfinals. The Slovenians lost sensationally against the blatant outsider Poland (87:90). Doncic wasn’t much of a help, only scoring 14 points. And flew off the field with his fifth foul in the middle of the last quarter.
A decision with which, of course, he did not agree.
Already during the tournament he was noticed with derogatory gestures towards the referees. In the last group game against France (88:82) he made the bribe gesture several times by rubbing his thumb, index and middle finger together.
After the tournament was eliminated against Poland, all of Doncic’s fuses blew. Bosnian and Croatian media write that the Slovene insulted referees Antonio Conde (Spain), Martin Horozov (Bulgaria) and Kerem Baki (Turkey) in Serbian.
Violent swear words were used!

Videos show Doncic walking towards the referee and unleashing a curse that translates most civilly to “I f**k your mother”.
During the game, cameras caught him swearing in Serbian. He speaks the language because his father is of Serbian descent. Also, many curses in Slovenia come from Serbian.
A Slovenian journalist to BILD: “The rant sounds violent. But you have to know that we say that all the time. Almost everyone says that to everyone.”
For Doncic it was an EM to forget. Before the tournament, German journalists had seen him smoking and drinking beer. The Slovenian association had denied the report, but there was still a stir.
During the preliminary round in Cologne there were transport problems. The team bus that was supposed to take the squad to the game against Lithuania wasn’t there. The players had to take taxis to the hall.
The move to the finals in Berlin only worked with a delay. Due to a signal box malfunction at Cologne Central Station, the team arrived in the capital around ten hours later than originally planned.
At the first training session in Berlin, to make matters worse, the helpers couldn’t find the changing room. The players had to change outside.
A bankruptcy, bad luck and breakdown EM for Slovenia and Doncic!
