In fact, the three of them, accompanied by the coach Alessandro Abruzzese, after having passed a first qualifying phase at a territorial level, were awarded the opportunity to participate in the “CONI 2022 Trophy”, the final act of the largest Under 14 multi-sports event in Italy, from September 29 to October 2.
The venue of the tournament, now in its seventh edition and temporarily stopped from the annual frequency due to the emergency linked to COVID-19, and which will host a total of 3100 athletes in the age group of 10-14 years, as well as 800 technicians and companions representing 23 delegations, which also include the Italian communities of Canada and Switzerland, and ready to compete in 41 disciplines of 35 National Sports Federations and 6 Associated Sports Disciplines, will be the Unione dei Comuni Valdichiana Senese.
The various athletes and companions will stay in the hotels of Chianciano Terme and in the Norcenni Girasole Village of Figline Valdarno, while the competitions will be held in the facilities of the municipalities of the Valdichiana Senese, precisely Cetona, Chianciano Terme, Chiusi, Montepulciano, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano, Sinalunga and Torrita di Siena, as well as in the neighboring municipalities of Abbadia San Salvatore, Siena itself, Sovicille, but also Arezzo, Laterina, Massarosa and, exceptionally, in Umbria, on Lake Trasimeno.
The “Mario Maccari” Municipal Stadium of Chianciano Terme will be the scene of the inaugural ceremony, scheduled for 5.30 pm on 29 September, in the presence – among others – of the President of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, of the Secretary General of CONI, Carlo Mornati, and the President of the CONI Tuscany Regional Committee, Simone Cardullo, while the closing ceremony will be staged at 6:30 pm on Saturday 1 October, in the Acqua Santa Park of Chianciano Terme.
As mentioned, there are seven athletes from Trani. This is because, in addition to the three players from Apulia Trani, Benedetta Stabilito, Domenico Occhionorelli, Ilario Musicco and Mattia Pignataro join together, between wrestling, judo, skating and, of course, football. Boys and girls, as the chosen formula, favors the composition of mixed teams both in individual sports, with each team consisting of a maximum of four athletes for each FSN and DSA, and in team sports.
A few hours after leaving for Tuscany, the seven, with the various technicians and managers, were received for a ceremony at the Tamborrino room in the municipality of Trani, the same where, just a few months ago, the First Team of Apulia Trani was celebrated for the victory of the national championship of Serie C for women Group C, in the presence of the mayor, Amedeo Bottaro, the councilor for sport, Leo Amoruso, and the president of the Provincial Committee Opes Bari, Leonardo Occhionorelli.
As for the calendar of sporting events in question, Pappalettera, Ruggiero and Scaringi will be on stage at the “Davide Astori” Municipal Stadium in Rignano sull’Arno, in the province of Florence, in the “3vs3 mixed team” between 09: 30/12: 30 and 16: 00/19: 00 on 30 September and 9: 30/13: 00 on 1 October.
