Is Cristiano Ronaldo’s brand image crumbling? After a hectic summer when he wanted to leave Manchester to find the Champions League, the Portuguese has since become a substitute for the Red Devils.
His start to the season is very complicated with zero goals to his credit after seven matches. His recent tenure against Real Sociedad illustrated the difficulties encountered by “CR7” with a goal disallowed for offside followed by a defeat (0-1).
Peterson, a psychologist labeled as a masculinist and transphobe
And in this delicate period, Ronaldo also sparked controversy after the publication on his Instagram account of a photo with Jordan Peterson. This Canadian psychologist is indeed known for positions with a masculinist tendency, often targeting so-called “radical” feminism. He often created controversy, considering in particular that the wage gap between men and women was not “gender discrimination” or that “the idea that women have been oppressed throughout history is a terrible theory”.
Jordan Peterson is also often criticized for positions deemed transphobic, having for example declared that the surgeon who operated on actor Elliot Page was a “criminal”.
On his Instagram account, Cristiano Ronaldo simply commented “Glad to see you my friend”to which Peterson replied: “ I have rarely met anyone who deserves what he got so much”. A “bad buzz” that Ronaldo could do without right now.
