The season restarts as it ended for Robert Williams III. Operated for a torn meniscus in his left knee before the playoffs, the pivot had gritted his teeth to return during the “postseason”.
We thought that the off-season would allow him to fully recover but ESPN announces that the “Timelord” will first go back to the pool table… to undergo an arthroscopy of his left knee. It’s the same knee that slowed him down during the last playoffs, and this procedure should keep him away from the field for 4 to 6 weeks.
That means Robert Williams III will miss all of his team’s training camp and preseason, and possibly the start of the campaign as Boston plays its regular-season opener against the Sixers on October 18. That’s exactly four weeks from now.
The Celtics will therefore attack their training camp with Al Horford, Grant Williams, Luke Kornet, Noah Vonleh, Mfiondu Kabengele and Bruno Caboclo under the circle, Jayson Tatum can also play position 4. But after the injury of Danilo Gallinari, this n is clearly not the recovery hoped for in Massachusetts.
Boston Celtics center Robert Williams is undergoing arthroscopic procedure on his left knee and is expected to need 4-to-6 weeks for recovery, sources tell ESPN. Williams had meniscus surgery in March and played through the playoffs
