The injured Jan Sýkora will not help Pilsen footballers until the end of the autumn part of the season. Viktoria reported about it on the club website. The 28-year-old member of the wider squad of the national team injured his knee in Sunday’s league win against Slavia (3:0).
Sýkora had to withdraw in the tenth minute, and today’s examination showed that he will no longer appear in Viktoria’s lineup in the fall. Due to the World Cup, the autumn part ends this year, unusually already in mid-November.
The Pilsen native helped West Bohemia to the championship title last season and was part of the starting line-up this season. He scored four goals in all competitions, including the one in the Champions League at Barcelona. After the ninth round, Viktoria is in first place in the league table, three points ahead of Slavia, and has a game to spare.
Before the upcoming matches in the League of Nations against Portugal and Switzerland, Sýkora appeared on the substitute list of the national team coach Jaroslav Šilhavý. Due to injury, however, he did not receive an additional nomination and so far he will not extend his balance of 14 games and four goals in the national team.
