The ‘Fair Play Award’ to the Lancers of Lastra a Signa

The “fair play prize educare tifando”, promoted by the Metropolitan City of Florence, was awarded to the Lancers of Lastra a Signa. ‘Fair Play’ had and has the objective of promoting the spread of a healthy sporting culture, starting with the youngest. The award ceremony, conducted by Franco Vannini and Franco Morabito, was held on Wednesday 14 September at the Teatro delle Arti, in the presence of the sports delegate of the metropolitan city, the Mayor of Lastra a Signa and the president of the Coni della Toscana Simone Cardullo.
28 testimonials that from 9 May to 12 June companies from 24 different municipalities of the Metropolitan City located in all areas were viewed.
The Lastrigiana baseball club was awarded for the correctness of the game and the cheering shown during the games played in recent months. The project was in fact articulated with the presence, between May and June, of athletes or significant people in the history of sport at a series of football, basketball, volleyball, handball, rugby, baseball and water polo matches played by children aged between 11 and 15 years old, to verify fairness in the game and education for healthy cheering.

The testimonials of the project were thus able to verify live the correctness of the game and the education to a healthy cheering. And, from their ranking came the first place for the company Lancers Baseball Club 1982, which thus received a cash prize for renovating its facilities in terms of environmental sustainability.
