The “Río Deport Fest 2022” will be held from February 22 to 26 in the Sierras Chicas Corridor.

On the morning of this Friday, an act was held at the Córdoba Convention Center in which the realization of the “Rio Sport Fest 2022”, the sporting and tourist event that had its first edition this year and that will again summon thousands of registered people from February 22 to 26 at the Small Mountains Corridorthanks to the efforts of public and private entities dedicated to its organization.
Present at the meeting were the president of the Córdoba Tourism Agency, Esteban Avilés; the Mayor of Río Ceballos Eduardo Baldassi; and on behalf of the Rio Sport Fest, andhe president of the Río Ceballos Bureau Martín Colazo and the owner of the Shopping Center of that city Nahuel Mordin.
In dialogue with the new morning, Colazo pointed out that the “Río Deport Fest is a sports festival that takes place in Río Ceballos and that with the presentation of this second edition, it seeks to position the event as part of the city’s identity. We want people to associate Río Ceballos with tourism and sports and come for sports vacations, for which we have many planned activities. This year we had eight disciplines and next year, there are already 23”accurate.
Some confirmed sports include Handball, 3×3 Basketball, Squash, Tennis, Swimming, Ping Pong, Marathon, Padel, BMX, Soccer, Volleyball, Taekwondo, Judo and Karate, among others.
“Year after year we want to add new, more inclusive disciplines, not only competitive ones, such as running or swimming in open water, which we are working on so that in a future edition they will be at night in the La Quebrada dam. Others that we have planned in addition to the traditional ones is the bicepand the e-sports developed jointly by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Córdoba Sports Agency and the Córdoba Young Agency, which will be the closing event. In addition, we will work with traditional recreational games such as karting, chess, ping pong, and many more”, detailed Colazo.
The venues where these disciplines will take place will be the Eos sports district, the Río Ceballos Sports Center, the Salsipuedes Sports Center, Impact Gym, Atlantis, Runner Contact, Paddle Arena, the Italian Circle, Caracol, the Río Ceballos Shopping Center, the Quebrada Dam, La Romelia and Ñu Porá Bike.
“Our objective from the Bureau together with the Shopping Center is working on creating events that attract visitors, to break seasonality and to generate greater investment and tourism development in the city”, he specified.
“For us it is a challenge that the “Río Deport Fest” becomes an iconic event in Córdoba. Just as Jesús María, Cosquín or Alta Gracia have their festivals, we want Río Ceballos to be recognized by this sports festival every year”, he concluded.
According to what was said, it is estimated that there are more than 4,000 registered and around 20,000 attendees. All of this will enhance the economic impact, which will result in around $40,000,000 in income in the Sierras Chicas corridor.
Caring for the environment and solidarity
It should be noted that for the festival, Rio Uruguay Seguros will donate, through Baum Fábrica de Arboles, 2,000 carob trees to recover native forest in Río Ceballos. Baum, will be in charge of the reforestation in a joint activity with the Environment area of the Municipality.
In the same way, training spaces will be shared for the benefit of Banco de Alimentos Córdoba, also highlighting the solidarity of the participants.
In this regard, the Mayor Eduardo Baldassi He referred to this meeting as a multidisciplinary sports event and said that “it will include traditional sports and those of the time that were significant in the city will be added, and the possibility of adding electronic sports.” In the same way, he stressed that the goal is to convert Ceballos River in the capital of sports tourism”.
Finally, Esteban Aviles He stressed that this second edition is important for Río Ceballos, for the entire Sierras Chicas corridor and for the entire province of Córdoba”. “We must highlight this synergy that Córdoba has accustomed us to, which is the joint work between the public and private sectors,” he emphasized.
“This is a different product, wide and varied, not only because it includes typical sports and disciplines that have not been heard of for a long time, but also because it incorporates the modern. But at the same time it has an environmental and sustainable impact. I think the organizers have been very smart to see what event the community in general was waiting for today: respect the environment, participate and show solidarity. Therefore, it should be noted that this festival is adding an outstanding product not only for Río Ceballos but for the entire province of Córdoba”.
