Timber and Geertruida play a draw with the Dutch Juniors

Lutsharel Geertruida and Quinten Timber drew 0-0 against Jong Romania on Tuesday evening with the Dutch Juniors. Both Feyenoord players completed the ninety minutes in an otherwise boring game.

The Dutch Juniors played in a 3-4-3 system against Romania. Timber was the captain of the team, while Geertruida formed the defense with Sepp van den Berg and Micky van de Ven. The duel was a friendly encounter.

“It was a tough opponent. Romania played defensively and was wasting a lot of time. The field didn’t help either,” said captain Timber in front of the camera of ESPN why the duel was not sparkling. “We knew in advance what kind of team it was. Then you have to keep the pace high and we didn’t. Then you make it difficult for yourself. It was not a fun game.”

KNVB coach Erwin van de Looi: ”You are dealing with an opponent who collapses a lot. Then you have to be good at the ball, both on the sides and between the lines. We never managed to get through. Then you get such a result. We tried a different style of play with three central defenders. Friday went well, today we played a lesser game. We are now going to see if this system is something for the future.”

Karim en Jahanbakhsh
Dermane Karim regained confidence at Togo. The talented midfielder of Feyenoord started against Equatorial Guinea in the base. The match ended 2-2. Karim was the declarant once. Alireza Jahanbakhsh was on the bench for Iran, but fell in halftime. The friendly game against Senegal ended in 1-1.
