As for the British, it is the “God Save the King” that resonates with a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. First set Kevin Canelon will start on the mound against Harrisson Ford (not Indiana Jones) the star player of Great Britain. A first strike well captured by Léo Jiminian, an elimination on a rolling and a good relay towards the first. A first half well controlled by Kevin Canelon and his defense. It’s now the turn of the attack for the blues against McKenzie Mills, the left-handed pitcher playing in Mexico. The British imitated the French well to close a first round. The two pitchers reassured themselves with this first inning without runs or hits conceded. Second inning The first hit of the game will be credited to Alex Crosby, Great Britain’s first baseman. A single that will put Crosby at first base. A bad pitch from Kevin Canelon will allow Crosby to run to second base. A hit by pitch will install Jaden Rudd at first base, while the rain makes its appearance at the Armin-Wolf-Arena. A high ball caught stolen by Ariel Soriano puts an end to a complicated second half inning for the French and Kevin Canelon. Still no points conceded by the France team. Ivan Acuna sends a homerun in center fields and thus offers the first point for the French. A well-placed strike from Yeixon Ruiz caused a late throw in first for the British and placed the French center field on base one. Daniel Patrice hits a nice hit in center field and allows the French to have two runners in play. On a bad pitch from McKenzie, Dagneau runs towards third base and Patrice towards second. After checking the referees reconsider their decision and withdraws Dagneau on its base flight, estimating that Justin Wylie succeeded in tagging the Frenchman. End of the second round and France took the lead thanks to Ivan Acuna’s missile. France 1 – Great Britain 0. Third inning To begin this third inning, Anfernee Seymour benefits from a bad relay between Soriano and Patrice to reach first base. A bad relay between Acuna and Angarita, then between Jiminian and Soriano will allow Seymour to reach third base. The pressure is on Kevin Canelon with no outs and a runner in three. What we feared happened. Harry Ford will hit a homerun in center field giving two points to Great Britain. The Mariners’ No. 1 prospect has knocked. The half round becomes complicated for Kevin Canelon who will launch his second Hit by pitch on Matt Koperniak. With still no outs and a runner on base, the pressure is mounting for the French pitcher. A double game will offer the first two withdrawals for France. Yeixon Ruiz on a magnificent dive will remove Justin Wylie who had hit to left field. End of this half round which will have seen the British take the score. After a hit by Perdomo, Angarita hits a short ball in the infield that Justin Wylie can’t control and therefore puts two runners on base with only one out. Ivan Acuna goes straight to first after an on-base goal. The bases are full and Mal Zan comes up to bat. Unfortunately Mael Zan will be withdrawn on a rolling first. The third round ends with the score of 2 to 1 for the British. Fourth inning After two bases and no outs, Kevin Canelon will leave the mound. Esteban Prioul (left-handed) will take over. Esteban is not going to reassure himself with full bases and still no withdrawals. Despite the point of Alex Crosby, the French will make a nice double game. Bruce Bochy surprises everyone by deciding to release Esteban Prioul who had just returned. It is Mathias Lacombe who will present himself on the mound. Anfernee Seymour will provide Great Britain’s fourth run on an outfield hit. This fourth round is in line with the previous one. A bad pitch from Mathias Lacombe will advance Harry Ford and Anfernee Seymour to second and third base respectively. The French are no longer there. Fortunately Mathias Lacombe does not tremble at the time of concluding this half round. Among the British, it is Vance Worley, the former MLB pitcher, who comes to take over from McKenzie Mills. Vance Worley will not be worried and will withdraw Ruiz, Dagneau and Patrice in quick succession. The fourth end ends, and Great Britain begins to widen the gap, 4 to 1. The French pitchers were struggling in this end. Fifth inning Mathias Lacombe is still present on the mound at the start of the fifth inning. A double from D’Shauwn Knowles will send Nick Ward to score Great Britain’s fifth point. This new hit will cause the exit of Mathias Lacombe. It is Robinson Maestre who will succeed on the mound with two outs and Knowles at second base. Jaden Rudd will be eliminated on a rolling and the French will finish this half inning. It is Gunnar Groen who will take over on the mound for the British. Groen will send Jiminian and Perdomo in quick succession after goals on base, all without having retired a single French batter. A hit from Ariel Soriano will allow Jiminian to score an extra point for the French. Camrin Opp is called the bullpen for the British. On a strike from Ivan Acuna, the French will score their third point. The game is restarted. The score will no longer move. The French are back in the game. France 3 – Great Britain 5. Sixth round Bruce Bochy has decided to reiterate his confidence in Robinson Maestre for the start of this sixth round. A double from Matt Koperniak will send Harry Ford to score the sixth point for the British. Robinson Maestre and the French still finish quickly this sixth half round. On the side of Great Britain Camrin Opp is always present on the mound. A double play by the Great Britain defense will put an end to this sixth inning. France 3 – Great Britain 6. Seventh inning Keivy Rojas relieved Robinson Maestre at the start of the inning. Two on base and a hit later, the French once again found themselves in a delicate situation with full bases and no outs. Bruce Bochy will call on his sixth pitcher to replace Rojas on the mound. It is Quentin Moulin who will have the heavy task of taking over. Jaden Rudd will drive in two more runs on a nice hit. The Brits still have two runners on base and no players retired. Harry Ford will continue and bring in the ninth point for his team. The France team has its head under water, while Great Britain continues its attacking festival. Bruce Bochy will call a new pitcher. The situation didn’t budge with full bases and no outs. A dive from Angarita causing a double play (forced play in second) will complete the three outs and allow the French to breathe a little while batting. A bad relay in first allows Perdomo to spin towards the third base, Angarita was able to join the second. The French have the option of scoring with two runners in scoring positions and no outs. A sacrifice on a high ball from Soriano will offer the fourth point to the French. France 4 – Great Britain 10 Eighth inning Gédéon Coste will start this eighth inning on the mound. Despite two strikeouts for Gédéon, the French pitcher will also suffer the offensive assaults of the British who will score two additional points on a shot in right field. Sugiura comes to the mound in turn. A complicated comeback that will allow the British to score a thirteenth point. Remember that beyond the seventh inning, if a team has ten points more than its opponent at the end of the inning, the game ends there. One more point for the British to close the game. Sugiura will not stay longer than his predecessors, he will be replaced by Yoimer Camacho. The latter will launch a hit by pitch which will mark the fourteenth British point. The French will go to bat and will have to score at least one point to avoid seeing the match end prematurely for them. Michael Peterson will launch this eighth inning which could prove to be decisive. There will be no miracles. The French will lose in this eighth round with a score of 14 to 4. All is not over for the French who will play with their backs to the wall next Sunday at 1pm against the loser of the match Spain – Czech Republic.
