The 33rd Gyeonggi-do Life Sports Festival 2022 Yongin, a grand festival of more than 20,000 Gyeonggi-do lifestyle sports enthusiasts, will be held throughout the Yongin Special City from the 28th to the 31st.
On the 28th, at Yongin Mir Stadium, firecrackers announcing the start of the Gyeonggi Life Sports Festival went off.
The opening ceremony was held in a grand way with the participation of about 5,000 people including Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, Gyeonggi-do Council Culture, Sports and Tourism Chairman Lee Young-bong, Yongin Special City Council Chairman Yoon Won-gyun, Gyeonggi Sports Council President Lee Won-seong, and 31 city and county athletes.
At the opening ceremony, the Yongin University Taekwondo Demonstration Team overwhelmed the venue with a performance that embodies the spirit of Goguryeo, and the riders of each team entered the venue boasting their dignified spirit.
The opening declaration of the Yongin City Sports Council Chairman Hyo-sang Cho, the flag hoisting, the welcome speech by Mayor Lee Sang-il, the congratulatory remarks by Governor Kim Dong-yeon, and the commitment of the club members were also held in sequence.
The atmosphere of the competition was ripe with celebration performances by performing artist Hyeonjun Poppin, Korean traditional musician Aeri Park, and vocalists Jihyeon Park and Itaewon. The team, their families, and the spectators cheered and applauded vigorously.
In particular, in this opening ceremony, special squad seats were installed around the stage so that the players could become the main characters.
The round tables and chairs decorated with flowers were arranged according to the number of people so that the players could sit comfortably and watch the opening ceremony, which received great reviews.
Every effort has been made to ensure a smooth running of the game. Due to the nature of the event, as well as the large number of people and the participation of athletes without professional training, an ambulance was additionally deployed at the stadiums where bicycles and marathons were held to prepare for emergencies.
In addition, the inline skating rink in Suji Sports Park was maintained to meet the competition standards for roller sports, a new event in the Gyeonggi Life Sports Festival, so that even after the competition, fans and citizens can enjoy roller sports in a comfortable and safe space.
The Gyeonggi Life Sports Grand Festival is the last event of the ‘2022 Gyeonggi Sports Festival’. Players representing each city and county compete for four days in a total of 24 sports, including soccer, badminton, tennis, gateball, foot volleyball, gymnastics, and basketball.
