19 personalities enter the Spanish Hall of Fame

Like the NBA, FIBA ​​and France with the Basketball Academy, Spain now has its own Hall of Fame and the second round reveals some prestigious names.

An evening organized in Seville inducted a class of 2022 made up of no less than 19 personalities divided into eight different categories: there are five former players (Clifford Luyk, Nino Buscató, José Manuel Calderón, Blanca Ares and Elisa Aguilar), two coaches ( Lolo Sainz and Aíto García Reneses), a referee (Francisco Monjas), two contributors (journalist Pedro Barthe and doctor and former player Jorge Guillén), a dream team (the national team that won Olympic silver in Los Angeles in 1984), five in memoriam (Javier Imbroda, Raimundo Saporta, Ernesto Segura de Luna, Pilar Godia and Héctor Quiroga), international recognition (Oscar Schmidt) and two “extraordinary” trophies (the Junta de Andalucía and Ouliana Semenova).

For the president of the federation, Jorge Garbajosa, “It’s one of the most beautiful evenings, and a lot of people have to be thanked. The newspaper As, the Junta de Andalucía, the City Council of Seville, the CaixaBank, all the sponsors of the FEB ». Garbajosa spoke about the “prestige that Spanish basketball has in the world” and thanked all the winners “for having shared an unforgettable evening”.
