Caracas started the campaign on the right foot

The Leones del Caracas team defeated (2 to 1) the Águilas del Zulia to start with victory the nascent season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) 2022-23.

The capital’s troupe scored their runs in the first two innings of the match, after RBI singles by Alexander Palma and that of the always successful Wilfredo Tovar.

The ninth Zulian discounted to put the scoreboard by difference of a run in the sixth inning thanks to a double steal attempt, which ended with an error by Caracas catcher Freddy Fermín.

However, Michel Socolovich, Tyler Wilson and Anthony Castro, who took the save, managed to preserve the lead and secure victory.

With this victory, Caracas placed its balance at 2-4 in the opening match against the eaglet team.

The victory was scored by reliever Yoimer Camacho and the loser was Zulian starter Elvis Araujo.

It is worth noting that 3,114 fans gathered for the first game of the season at the University Stadium, according to the Caracas press department.
