The Senior Men’s 1 National DBC SUMA team faced a tough match at Joan Fuster playing one on one against Terralfas, a team built with clear aspirations to be in the promotion phase to the EBA League, in a match that was not decided until it was just two minutes to go (66-78).
The match was conditioned by personal fouls, since those from Dénia were penalized with up to thirty-seven against for only fifteen indicated to our rivals, who are precisely a very physical team.
As a result, Terralfas scored thirty-one points from free throws, seventeen of them in a final quarter where the hosts found it literally impossible to defend. For their part, Bernardo Sanz and Pascual Miralles’ men only managed nine in the course of the entire match.
The work behind and on the rebound allowed them to match forces on the court in the first half, and keep the options alive despite the good inside game of the visitors.
At halftime, the Marina Baixa team led by six points on the scoreboard, despite suffering the disqualification of one of their best players for throwing the ball at the head of one of the rivals after receiving a personal foul.
With the restart, the home side always maintained their intensity, both defensively and offensively, playing at a high level and offering a great image that led them to level the match, and even take the lead already in the last quarter. However, the better management of the visitors’ final possessions within the last two minutes of the game, showing their quality and experience, led them to gain an advantage that was insurmountable for us.
Next week, the team will visit the Benifaió field where they will try to fight for a victory that will allow them to follow in the footsteps of the teams that lead the classification.
The Senior Women’s team won the derby against Ifach Calp thanks to an excellent second half (78-27)
After a good start to the game that seemed to indicate that Juan Luis Pérez’s girls would soon decide the result, the visitors reacted in the second period by playing very good minutes that helped them keep options when they reached the break (32-22) . Their forces arrived there, without being able to present opposition to the reaction of the Dianenses in the following two periods.
Supported by an excellent defense, the differences increased with the passing of the minutes, thus ensuring the third consecutive victory at the start of the season.
Next week they receive Joventut Xàbia in the Joan Fuster pavilion, a team with which they share leadership of the group, and which arrives at this fourth day equally undefeated.
The Preferential Senior Men’s team went from less to more during their visit to San Gabriel de Alicante, where they ended up being defeated in the last minutes (67-54)
A start to the game in which it was very difficult to score, meant conceding a tough partial against at the end of the first quarter. Dianense inaccuracies in attack facilitated quick counterattacks to the rivals who closed the period with an advantage of fifteen points.
They managed to improve the game during the second quarter, reducing the number of turnovers, while increasing their success percentages in their basket. One of the keys to this reaction was being able to better accept contacts both in defense and attack, unlike what happened in the first ten minutes.
They came into the break eight points behind on the scoreboard, but with better feelings that allowed them to think that they would be able to come back in the second half. They continued with that dynamic during the third quarter, leveling the score quite a bit and putting the Alicante team in trouble. But a moment of uncertainty on the part of those from Dénia, caused by their defensive pressure, led them to receive another partial against which they could no longer counteract, despite continuing to try until the end.
Third defeat for Carlos Vila’s men who, however, on this occasion were able to play a lot of minutes at a very good level, something that should serve for their players to see what they are capable of. They will have to raise their spirits quickly to face an important match next day at Joan Fuster against Muro Basquet.
