The Dutch delegation got off to a good start. De Wit scored the first point for the Netherlands. After that, the score was further extended by Korrel, but Israel then took a lead: 3-2.

Vermeer was still close to the tying run for the Netherlands, but had to retire injured in the last match. As a result, the bronze automatically went to the competitor.

Gold or silver was no longer an option for the Dutch team due to a hopeless defeat in the quarterfinals. Verhorstert, De Wit, Hilde Jager and Marit Kamps all lost in the quarterfinals against Japan.

On Wednesday, Roy Meyer was still close to a third Dutch medal. In the over 100 kilogram class, he lost the bronze medal to South Korean Kim Min-jong.
