View the summary of FC Emmen – FC Volendam
FC Emmen and FC Volendam drew 1-1 in Drenthe. With this, the numbers one and two of last season’s first division leave the last place in the eredivisie at least for a while to Vitesse, which will visit SC Cambuur on Saturday.
Both teams had lost five of their last six games and were looking for a win in the basement cracker. FC Emmen coach Dick Lukkien made some remarkable changes. On goal, Mickey van der Hart was preferred over Eric Oelschlägel and striker Richairo Zivkovic had to pay for his scoreless start to the season with a place on the bench.
Megamisser El Messaoudi
With only seven goals in the first nine rounds, Emmen scored the fewest goals this Eredivisie season and finding the net against Volendam also turned out to be a major problem. A three-on-one situation towards the Volendam goal was messed up and Ahmed El Messaoudi missed two great opportunities.
First El Messaoudi shot from close range and then he did not slip the ball into an empty goal, but into the hands of Volendam keeper Filip Stankovic, who also had a nice save on a shot by Mark Diemers. There were no goals in the first half.
El Messaoudi makes up for miss
On the other hand, Volendam was only sporadically dangerous. After the break, Volendam coach Wim Jonk brought in fresh energy with Achraf Douiri and Walid Ould-Chikh and the visitors came out better. In the 64th minute, Ould-Chikh, after his brother Bilal was injured, cut himself free and shot Volendam with the left lead.
Three minutes later it was all right again. El Messaoudi made up for his misses before the break by working a cross from Rui Mendes into the goal. With opportunities for Emmen substitute Zivkovic and Mohamed Bouchouari, among others, it remained exciting until well into injury time, but more goals were not scored at the Oude Meerdijk.
