There’s a lot at stake…

After the fourth competitive win in a row yesterday in Hoffenheim (2-0), FC Bayern is relaxed about the cracker in the premier class on Wednesday (9 p.m. live on DAZN or in the Live ticker on sportbild.de) at FC Barcelona.

While Munich have already qualified for the round of 16, FC Barcelona and ex-Bayern star Robert Lewandowski (34/has been playing for the Catalans since the summer) are already in danger of being eliminated in the group stage.

And his former colleague Leon Goretzka (27) teases Lewandowski before the duel.

Goretzka: “Lewy was very spoiled at Bayern, always being at least in the round of 16 and progressing. But now we can no longer take that into account.”

It could hardly have been worse for Lewandowski after his move. Ironically, Bayern can shoot him out of the Champions League early on Wednesday. Getting kicked out in the group stage would be unusual for Lewy.

This happened most recently in 2011 at his former club Borussia Dortmund, where Lewy played between 2010 and the summer of 2014. With the record champions, however, he always reached the knockout phase in his eight years.

But mathematically it looks bad: Winning Bayern at the Camp Nou is a shift in the shaft for Barça anyway. But even if Inter Milan wins against Viktoria Pilsen in the early evening, Barça is already eliminated. And Lewy’s dream of the title in the premier class was over early on!

Goretzka is hot for the duel: “If we play FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou, it can be a pre-season game or a Champions League final, it doesn’t matter! It’s going to be a super cool game that we’re looking forward to. And we will also do everything to win it.”

Bayern’s new super striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (33) is also looking forward to seeing Lewy again: “It’s their last chance. I’m definitely looking forward to the game and to Lewy. He’s a world-class player and a great guy. Playing against Barcelona is always something special.”
