GSW scandal: The Greens are now reporting

Three days ago, a fist punch made the rounds in Golden State Warriors practice.

According to ESPN and The Athletic, a verbal argument ensued between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole that degenerated into a shove – and escalated when Green punched Poole, punching him too. (NEWS: All current information about the NBA)

With a slight delay, Green has now turned to the public and apologized for his behavior. “I did something wrong on Wednesday and I apologized to my team for that,” he told reporters on Saturday, adding, “I apologized to Jordan.”

The four-time NBA champion also said he will be off training for a few days so the team can “start healing.” Above all, he wanted to give Poole time and space.

The 32-year-old is likely to miss the preseason games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors will start the season on October 18 against the Lakers. Green said he hopes to be at the game but doesn’t want to make any guarantees. (DATA: NBA Results and Schedule)

Kerr and Curry defend Poole

GSW CEO Bob Myers had already commented on the matter on Thursday. “Things like that happen. Nobody likes it, we don’t condone it, but it happens,” he said, revealing, “Draymond has apologized to the team. Jordan was in the room.” He did not want to comment on the subject of suspension or fines, as this should be regulated internally.

Meanwhile, the incident made waves. It was speculated, among other things, that Poole himself was to blame for the scandal. But both head coach Steve Kerr and GSW superstar Steph Curry dismissed that theory.

“All I can say is that Jordan was amazing throughout camp,” Kerr said Thursday. He was recently alerted to a report of wrongdoing, but “nothing could be further from the truth”.

Curry himself succinctly underlined Kerr’s statement: “This is absolute nonsense.”

Green and Poole have played together for the Golden State Warriors since 2019. Last season, they won the NBA championship together.
