The ULEB Euroleague team Belgrade “Crvena Zvezda” has announced that the Argentinian Luka Vildos will play in its team this season. The contract is concluded for two years.

The basketball player has returned to Europe after an unsuccessful attempt to establish himself in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Argentinian defender has been fighting for his NBA dream since last May. He first signed with the New York Knicks, but after playing just two games in the Summer League, he was released from the club in October. The player was out of work for a little over seven months when the Milwaukee Bucks showed interest in his services, signing a two-year contract with the basketball player in April. Vildoza played in seven games last season, making a symbolic appearance.

Just two days ago, he had six points, two rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 24 minutes in a preseason game against the Chicago Bulls, but it wasn’t enough to convince management.

Before going to the NBA, the 27-year-old player was a teammate of Artūrs Kurucs in Vitoria “Baskonia” unit, where he played from 2016 to the beginning of 2021. He helped “Baskonia” in the pandemic-affected 2019/2020. to win the Spanish league title in the season of 2018, the Argentine earning the “Final Four” most valuable player award.

As an interesting fact, it should also be noted that Vildosa is the first Argentinian player in the history of “Crvena Zvezda”. The next match for the Belgrade team in the Euroleague is scheduled for tonight, at 20:00 Latvian time, hosting Athens “Panathinaikos”.
