In Gergy, inauguration of the brand new tennis club house

This Sunday, October 02, info Chalon attended the inauguration of the club house of the Gergy tennis club.

In project since 2017, the tennis club gergotin was able in this autumn of 2022 to invest its new premises, certainly larger than the old one but also and above all very successful.

It was therefore Philippe Fournier, mayor of the town, who cut the traditional tricolor ribbon surrounded by Olivier Tainturier, sub-prefect of Chalon sur Saône, Sébastien Martin, president of Grand Chalon, Dominique Melin, vice president of Grand Chalon in charge sports, Nathalie Damy, departmental councilor of Saône et Loire, as well as Jean-Baptiste Lauquin, president of the Tennis Club of Gergy.

The Mayor wanted to thank all the financial players of course, but also all the people who contributed to the realization of this project, in particular the architect present in the assembly, Madame Dumoux, for having accompanied them throughout the construction process. .

He also wanted this Sunday to salute the professionalism and the unfailing investment of Marie-Pascale Brusson, general secretary of the Gergotine commune who ensures in the shadows the good organization and the respect of the deadlines of the projects of the commune, among others. .


It was under the warm shaded terrace of the brand new sports premises that the various speeches then followed one another.

Sébastien Martin, recalled the desire of Grand Chalon: “Sport for all, everywhere in the territory” with the financial means of an envelope of €200,000 to support the development of sports clubs in all the municipalities of Grand Chalon.

Nathalie Damy, in turn, hailed the Gergotin associative fabric “not only important but also very effective”.

The sub-prefect, meanwhile, a tennis lover, wished to underline the extreme quality of the venue and then ended up by encouraging competition “no excuse now for not winning all the matches! » he launched to the president of the association!

The club, founded in 1984, has 64 licensed children and around thirty adults, a workforce which has increased by almost 100% in two years since before the health crisis, 35 children were registered with the Gergotin tennis club.

“This new location will allow us to strengthen the before and after tennis, just as important as the pendant,” confided Jean Baptiste Lauquin, president of the club, convinced that this new feature will further enhance the conviviality within the association.

This inauguration ended with a glass of friendship in a warm atmosphere around the outdoor tennis courts, the Saturday rain having given way to beautiful rays of sunshine.
