Judo: Gangl wins silver at Kirchbacher competition premiere in Komenda

The Union Judoklub Kirchbach took part in the international judo tournament in Komenda, Slovenia, for the first time. Christoph Gangl made a big showing in the U16 class.

SLOVENIA/KIRCHBACH. 351 athletes from 48 clubs and six nations attended the international judo tournament im Slovenian Komenda with you. Also at the start for the first time: a delegation from Judoklub Kirchbach or. Christopher Gangl in the U16 division. Gangl is in top form, so he was recently crowned runner-up in the Vienna Open – and that in the age group U18.

In his weight class up to 66 kilograms, 15 athletes took part in Slovenia. After two quick Ippon wins by Festhalter Gangl was already in the fight for entry into the final. He was able to defend this lead over time and bought his ticket for the final. There he faced the current champions from Slovenia, Fran Mecilošek, opposite to. This was a size too big for the Kirchbacher. The victory therefore went to the Slovenes Bezigrad Laibach.
