Bernau / Barnim: The Erich-Wünsch-Halle in Bernau was bursting at the seams last Saturday.
They were invited to the 7th Judo-Skoda Cup of JSV Bernau and it was supposed to be the biggest in the club’s history.
More than 450 judokas from 37 clubs in the U11, U13, U15 and U19 age groups traveled to our tranquil city, mainly from Berlin and Brandenburg, but also from Naumburg and Stettin (Poland). What is special about this tournament is that there is no fighting in the usual weight classes, but in groups of four judokas that are close in weight. A nice thing, especially for the youngest, because at the end everyone goes home with a medal. In addition, there is a cup classification at the end of each age group, where the sponsor of the tournament sponsors the “Auto(h)aus Europa Bernau” for the winner and prize money of 60 euros for the club’s treasury.

The field of participants consisted of both beginners and professionals. But especially with the newcomers you could see the nervousness before the first competition and the trainers tried to prepare them for it. At JSV Bernau, Loihoowa Luckumay was one of them. The white belt has only recently been doing judo and was still able to win two of his three fights against significantly higher ranked and received his first silver medal. After a longer injury break, Clara Lange also started her first competition and she had a strong pool. The trainers were just enthusiastic about your performance against Amelie Jank from Hennigsdorfer JV, who partly trained with your mother in the Ü30 training group in Bernau.
It was only in the GoldenScore that she literally ran out of breath and lost. Against Angelina Goncharuk from the Judo Club Kano Berlin, she showed what she was capable of and won with a detention. In the end she got the bronze medal. Jerome Derek Reuter drew attention to himself among the boys. This year he was at every competition and now at the home tournament he wanted to show what he can do. After less than 30 seconds, he sent his opponent Markus Eschrich from the Falkensee Judo School onto the mat with a clean Uchi-mata. With another win and a defeat, there was a well-deserved silver medal at the end.
Overall, the Bernauer won seven gold, twelve silver and thirty-three bronze. You also won the cup in the U11s. Traditionally, however, they gave up both this place and the prize money from the “Auto(h)aus Europa Bernau” to second-placed SFK ShidoSha Berlin. In the U13 there was also a second place in the cup ranking. Thanks to the many helpers, especially at the snack bar, which took care of the physical well-being, it was a successful event and many are looking forward to coming back next year.
