The currently 31-year-old footballer joined the RFS at the beginning of 2021. Last year, the Czech scored three goals and assisted his partners seven times in 33 games, while this year he scored six goals and provided the same number of assists in 34 games.
Together with RFS, Mareš became the Latvian football champion and also helped the team to win the Latvian Cup.
“I am pleased with the agreement reached,” said the defender after the contract was signed. “I feel very good at RFS, and my family also likes it here. I see how fast the RFS organization is developing, so there was no doubt about continuing the cooperation,” he added.
In the overall ranking of the Latvian championship, RFS takes the third place with 67 points in 31 matches, two points behind the other capital team “Riga”. On the other hand, RFS is 7 points behind the leader “Valmiera”.
RFS will play their next match on Thursday, when they will face Basaksehir Istanbul, with whom they played a 0-0 draw at home last week, in a UEFA Conference League subgroup match.
In subgroup A, after three games, the Turkish club has seven points, the Italian team “Fiorentina” from Florence has four points, the Scottish club “Hearts” from Edinburgh – three points, and the players from Riga – two points.
