Lea Schmid from JZ Heubach becomes U23 Vice European Champion

Judo, U23 European Championship: Lea Schmid takes the runner-up title in Sarajevo.

Sarajevo. In the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo, 17 participants started in the 78-kilogram weight class. After a bye in round 1, Lea Schmid from JZ Heubach went against Lena Lubura from Bosnia. She won with the holding technique “Sankaku”. In the next round she managed a success against Caolina Paiva from Portugal by a combination “Tani otoshi”. In the semifinals against Nikolett Sagi Hungary she won thanks to “Harai Goshi”. Schmid was then able to throw her opponent several times in the final, but not on the target area that could be evaluated. After a hasty attack, she finally lost, but still celebrated the runner-up title.

3rd place at the European Team Championship

Team Germany took second place at the European Team Championships. After a bye, the team won against France, in the semifinals they beat Hungary – Lea Schmid won their fights in both matches. In the final, the German team lost to Turkey.
